I know or I understand you need more and appropriate support for the situation you are in now. A lot of people they don’t understand what they are going through in these so called forced marriages, so my dear friend forced marriages existed before us and it will exist till the end of the world.
I understand outside there you must be in the situation where you have been isolated or kept prisoner in the house, no access on telephone calls and may be even your movements have been restricted whereby you cannot even communicate with your friends.
In this modern society forced marriages has no place at all you as a victim it’s affecting you in such a way that to a certain extent you can even commit suicide and a lot of people have ended up doing so, because they have given up or they have no hope on how they can go outside of these marriages.
Furthermore a lot of victims have no way out in the first place to resist this marriage, and sometimes they find themselves whereby they have nowhere to run for help eventually some end up with mental problems.
Forced marriages can put you in the cycle of poverty and powerlessness, more especially the women. Like I said before forced marriages have no place at all it should be everyone’s concern to fight these kinds of marriages in our communities.
Have you ever asked yourself that if for example you where forced into the marriage without your consent or to someone you have never met, someone you don’t even have his /her feelings. How would you feel or what would you do to see that you are out of this marriage.
Ok let’s assume you have a plan on how you can go outside of this, but remember in most cases you have been isolated like I mentioned before, you have no access on money, telephones or even your passport and your movements have been restricted.
What would you do if you happen to find yourself in this situation or how can you go about it, let me share my advice with you my dear friend. First and foremost you have to be strong I know out there a lot of people who have been forced into these marriages, have been threatens. Don’t be shy report to the authorities stand strong because at the end of the day it’s your life, these days there’s a lot of government organizations where you can report and am very sure you will get all the necessary help very quickly (www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/forced marriage/motives_1.shtml).
Sometimes you are going to be threatened that if you don’t accept this marriage your father or mother they will die and so and so forth.
Secondly when I was doing my research in almost 22 African countries,6 in Asia,8 in Europe and 5 in both south and north America,20 percent of the victims i spoke to , referenced spells casting (using a spell called stop forced marriage spell).
