Putting Together an Engagement Party

One of the most exciting moments in any couple's relationship is that time when the guy finally pops that all-important question, 'Will you marry me?' Once the girl answers in the affirmative, the guy then slips a ring into her finger and they get engaged.
An engagement certainly calls for celebration, and what better way to celebrate it than with a party? If you want to organize an engagement party for a couple-friend, the following planning tips can come in really handy:
Planning the budget - Before you can do anything when it comes to organizing this special event, consider first the budget that will be set aside for it. Ask the couple (or whoever is sponsoring the event) how much they're willing to spend for it. Most of the aspects of the party will work around such budget.
Choosing a date - When looking at the calendar, your choice of date will depend on the availability not only of the engaged couple, but also the guests you're planning to invite. Of course, the couple will eventually decide the date they want for the bash.
Picking a venue - Again, you can consult the soon-to-be-married couple for their preferred venue, although you can give them your own suggestions. To make it unique, don't go for the usual venues like hotels and bars. Instead, you can choose an open area where a lot of activities can be done. You can also hold it at the exact place where the proposal was made. For practical purposes, you can even use the guy or girl's backyard (or front lawn) as venue.
Choosing the menu - No party can be a party without the eats. The factors you will consider when it comes to the food that's going to be served include the number of expected guests and the time of the event. Why the time? If you're having it around mid-afternoon, then the food will come in the form of snacks, which means you're going light with the food. However, if you're planning to have it late in the afternoon to evening, then prepare something hearty.
Documenting the event - Of course, you want to have those special moments kept for posterity. If you don't want to multi-task taking pictures and/or videos while interacting with the guests, you can just hire a photographer and/or a videographer to capture the moments in film.
Make that engagement party a truly memorable event by carefully planning it. It's the first social event that the couple will be attending as they get ready to embark on their journey as committed partners.
